KAZAKHSTAN BOXING FEDERATION HELD THE APB PROJECT PRESENTATION

Kazakhstan Boxing Federation held the APB project presentation. The first bouts within the framework of the innovative project AIBA Pro Boxing – АРВ will be held in January 2014, as stated by Benoit Giran, APB technical director in the course of the presentation held in Astana on the 17th of April.

Representative from the International Boxing Association (AIBA) introduced the audience to the APB development strategy and told about the project realization plans. He mentioned, that Kazakhstan is one of the leaders in world boxing. The country pays great deal of attention to the development of this sport which is proven by the achievements of Kazkahstani boxers on the international sport arena, and the federation of the Republic is actively involved in the APB project.
 
AIBA Pro Boxing opens new opportunities both for athletes and national federations this is why the presentation was attended by the broadest audience of national specialists and managers – the management of Kazakhstan Boxing Federation (KBF), President’s professional sports club “Astana” and pro sport club “Astana-Arlans” , as well as representatives from regional and municipal federations, coaching staff, and KBF’s research team.
 
B. Giran also outlined the fact that APB would allow amateur boxers to continue their sport career under the patronage of AIBA at the professional stage without loosing the right to participate in Olympic games as well as at world and continental championships.
 
Throughout the course of the presentation and project discussion, the participant acquired thorough information on APB’s topical issues.
 
During the Q&A session, AIBA representative also noticed that each of the 3 APB levels – national, continental and international, would include 13 athletes and the exhibition fights will take place already this year.
 
Only the best amateur boxers – Olympic games and world championships medalists – will take part in the first season of the APB. The following seasons will, supposedly, increase the number of participants. Boxers selection to the APB will be delegated to special AIBA committee. Coaches will also not go unnoticed – they will have a chance to improve theirs qualification at workshops and seminars.
